"Absolutely beautiful new restaurant. It was bustling when I visited on a Friday night which was a tight squeeze but a nice ambiance. We ordered from across the menu - the garlic toast was excellent, as was the pasta all’Amatriciana. And the choc hazelnut was a true standout that was rich and textural and not too sweet. I did think that the serves were quite small for the price at $150 for 2 sans alcohol and I’d love to see a few caffeine-free non-alcoholic drinks. But overall I had a very nice experience."

"as cute as I thought it was gonna be. Really lively and compact. We had to wait for a walk in table and sipped a G&T out the window on the sidewalk was very nice. Main dining room was pumping. Felt like every well dressed broadsheet reader decided to go on Wednesday night. All the food coming out looked really delectable. We were seated in the back courtyard and unfortunately that lead to the service making us feel like somewhat of an after thought, had to ask for water, then a menu, then to order, but we weren’t in a rush and they were slammed. Considering how busy and how tiny the kitchen was the food came out quite quickly and everything was so yum. Rogue highlight for me was the tomatoes in the house salad were kinda cured or roasted or something and they were just so unctuous with flavor and sweetness. The butterflied fish is as good as it looks. Will be back with a reservation in the dining room and a couple more friends so we can just eat the whole menu!"

"Such a lovely new neighbourhood wine bar. Audrey and co have done an incredible job. Firstly, the space is beautiful and warm. The service is personal and the staff are so knowledgeable. The menu (which will be changing according to seasonal produce) had a range of meat and vegetarian options. We were lucky enough to taste everything and it was DELICIOUS. We sat at the bar, and would highly recommend this as we got to watch Audrey and the team at work. What a fabulous new addition to Fitzroy! Will be back for sure."

"The charcoal grilled snapper was a favourite, followed by the scallop. The dishes with the red cabbage and white cabbage were a bit too bitter for my taste. If you like bitter and tangy dishes, those two would be perfect for you. The menu was kind of hard to read but the staffs were very helpful and gave us recommendations. Service overall was good. However, the waiting time between each dishes were a bit long. Was told the menu changes every week on Wednesday. Would visit here again!!"

"One of the most divine meals I’ve had in Melbourne in months (if not years!). The food at Carnation had us genuinely ordering more and more after each course came. The flavours in each dish were so well thought out and balanced and a seat at the bar allowed us to really appreciate the thought that went into each meal. Already planning when we can next make it back!! Will say on the pricier side - $24 for an aperol spritz was a bit too much in our opinion - but very well worth it. Music playing was fab too!! Lots of Blood Orange - love!"

"Went for my birthday dinner! Tried it mainly for the Pomegranate Cosmo and it didn’t disappoint, same goes for the other three drinks we ordered (one was highly recommended by the staff and it was amazing but i forgot the name). Food was decent; everything had a distinct smoky scent, and the pasta surprisingly grew on me with every bite. Menu font could use a refresh, but the staff were super helpful and attentive. Would’ve loved slightly bigger portions though!"
